8 Things to Consider Before Scheduling Your LASIK Operation
If you’ve been dreaming of the perfect 20/20 vision, LASIK could be the answer to your dreams. Before you decide, there are few things you must understand and do in order to ensure your procedure is what you expect.
Consider the points below:
-
LASIK involves refracting the cornea of the eyes to make it more effective for light refraction, which leads to better vision.
-
LASIK is an outpatient procedure. The surgery takes a few minutes, although you will be in the facility for about an hour.
-
It is painless. Yes, you read that right, there will be anesthetic drops for your eyes and you should not feel pain during the procedure
-
The eye surgeon will ask you to focus your attention into a light throughout the process. To allow the laser to do its intricate, accurate work, it is best to keep your eyes still and in one place.
-
There may be a little discomfort, and sensitivity to light after the LASIK procedure, this is normal and as may last for a few hours. However, your vision should improve thereafter.
-
Discuss the procedure in detail with your surgeon before scheduling LASIK for your eyes.
This type of eye surgery is not ideally-suited for everyone, and many patients may have better results with alternatives like Refractive Lens Exchange or PRK. One size doesn’t fit all when it comes to eye surgery!
